WIND POWER
Electricity from wind power is one of the fastest growing methods of generating electricity in the world. The kinetic energy in moving air is converted into electricity by wind turbines that are mounted in locations where there are favorable weather patterns.
The worldwide installed capacity of wind power reached 282,482 MW by the end of 2012. India has a total installed capacity of 18,421 MW (up to 2012). The short gestation periods for installing wind turbines and the increasing reliability and performance of wind power machines have made wind power a favorite choice for capacity expansion in India.
